Martin City students win 1,000 dollars for student-produced video

Martin City K-8 students won 1,000 dollars for two separate video entries to the annual Missouri Afterschool Network video contest. Students created a video with this year's theme "Afterschool Works" which supports fun and educational after school programming.

Slammin' & Jammin' for Genesis School

Genesis School held their annual Slammin' & Jammin' fundraising event on May 8-9, 2015. The two-day event featured a party and auction, with a professional tennis tournament the following day. LINC produced a short video to kick-off the event.

Volunteers, local organizations to benefit local schools during Project Shine

Project Shine will once again be held this summer to clean and revitalize five schools in the Independence School District. Volunteers and supply donations are need to support cleaning and maintence efforts during Project Shine, which prepares schools for the upcoming academic year.

Text, Talk, Act conversations to be held Thursday, May 7 to work to remove stigmas surround mental illnesses through small group discussions and activities. Text, Talk, Act is held in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

2015 LINC Book Distributions

Phyllis Becker has been appointed Director of the Division of Youth Services (DYS).

Missouri Department of Social Services director Brian Kinkade announced the appointment on April 17, 2015.

KC C.A.R.E. to hold one-day free health clinic, April 18, 2015

The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) and the Kansas City CARE Clinic will be holding a one-day free medical clinic event on Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Kansas City, Mo., at the Bartle Hall Kansas City Convention Center, for those in the area who have no or limited access to health care.

LINC travels to St. Louis with Turn the Page KC to provide books to Kansas City children

Over 200 students play chess at NKC tournament

Tournament results. Over 200 students from the Kansas City area competed in the LINC Chess K-12 Tournament at North Kansas City High School Saturday, May 28. Pre-registration is open for the next tournament, the LINC Chess End of Year Tournament Saturday, May 9.

KCPS Superintendent named Missouri superintendent of the year

Kansas City Public School Supt. Dr. R. Stephen Green has been selected Missouri Superintendent of the Year.

The top honor was conferred on Green during a March 25 event at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Center names new school superintendent

The Center School District Board of Education has selected Dr. Sharon Nibbelink as the district school superintendent.

Nibbelink was selected in March following a national search on who should succeed David Leone, who is retiring after over 40 years in education.
