Missouri KIDS COUNT launches new website

Missouri KIDS COUNT has launched its new website including stories, policy briefs and connections to new and improved data connections.

The website includes Missouri KIDS COUNT data book that highlights indicators and county rankings, a searchable archive of Missouri KIDS COUNT data available since 1993 and data reports and research paper.

Educare to hold child care provider workshops on Feb. 21

Educare, the LINC initiative to support early childhood education providers, will host a large group training on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at Fire Prairie Upper Elementary School, 24810 East U.S. 24 Highway, Independence, MO 64058.

Parents and students build relationships with Teen FAST

A second class of the Teen FAST program at Van Horn High School in Independence has graduated. Since 1999, LINC has used the FAST program as part of its Caring Communities initiative.

LINC partnership connects students with the arts

Students from Van Horn High School in the Independence School District recently attended Motown The Musical.This school year over 600 LINC students from three school districts (Kansas City, Hickman Mills, and Independence) have attended shows at the Coterie and Music Hall.

LINC Commission selects new leaders

The LINC Commission, at its January 26 meeting, selected Jack Craft and Bailus Tate as interim co-chairs for the board. The two succeed long-time chair Landon Rowland, who will continue to serve on the board.

The LINC Commission will meet Monday, Jan. 26 from 4-6 pm at the Kauffman Foundation, 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO.

KC Digital Inclusion Coalition issues report on community challenges

The Kansas City Digital Inclusion Coalition has issued a report based on what is learned at an earlier summit last October. The report lays out nine broad themes and strategies to address the issue. In conjunction with the report, the coalition publicly launched a website that includes links to community resources, research data and reports and ways to get involved.

Improvement in K.C.P.S. continues with master plan public seminars

Attendees of the upcoming 2015 master plan seminars will hear solutions to the issues that were raised in 2014. The seminars are free to the public.

Ervin Early Learning Center opens in Hickman Mills School District

LINC Caring Communities staff meet with 120 parents and 281 students during Ervin Early Learning Center grand opening. Ervin Early Learning Center prepares students to enter first grade by the next school year.

Independence students reach global community to give back this holiday season

William Chrisman High School and Bingham Middle School students work together with LINC and school staff to support children around the world though the Samaritan's Purse International Relief program.

Next Step KC volunteers to provide free tax preparation to area residents

Eligible Kansas and Missouri residents have the opportunity to utilize a free tax preparation service provided through Next Step KC. Next Step KC works with United Way to create financialy secure families and communities.
