Summer programs start

Extensive summer school programs started June 4 in several LINC-supported school districts. In the Kansas City Public Schools, LINC was one of several partners opening a summer school program with a strong focus on instruction in core academic areas. Over 7,000 students are enrolled in KCPS summer programs.

LINC distributes 27,000 free books

LINC distributed 27,000 books, one for every elementary student in the Center, Fort Osage, Grandview, Hickman Mills, Independence, and Kansas City school districts, along with select North Kansas City schools and two charter schools.

Mayor James honors work of AmeriCorps Vista Members

The National Mayors Day of Recognition of National Service was held on April 2. Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Sly James read to students at Primitivo Garcia in the Kansas City Public Schools and he recognized the work of AmeriCorps Vista members that work on the Turn the Page KC literacy initiative.

Woodland Site Council to install Born Learning Trail on site

A Born Learning Trail installation on Sat., March 22 will give families in Woodland Caring Communities an interactive opportunity to experience early childhood education strategies with their child through games. 

Born Learning KC is dedicated to provide caregivers with early childhood educational opportunities to help their child prepare for school.
