LINC staff and KCPS staff collaborate during reading and professional training
LINC site staff participated in a Reading and Professional Development Training led by Kansas City Public Schools staff at Richardson Elementary School on Friday, March 14, 2014. The training supports an increased focus on reading and literacy for students at LINC Caring Communities sites.
Dr. Trinity Davis, KCPS director of curriculum and instruction, and Sherry Eastin, KCPS curriculum coordinator, led the training, which was organized around the concepts of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Staff received training in these concepts through fun, interactive, collaborative exercises. Staff will use these games to help children build reading skills at LINC Before & After School and Summer Camp programs.
Site supervisors, coordinators, and staff members of the 25 LINC Caring Communities in KCPS participated in the all-day event.
