KCPT to air special on KC violence

KPCT will air a special program on violence in Kansas City calling it a "public health crisis."  The program Shots Fired: KCPT Takes Aim at Gun Violence will air Thursday, Aug. 17th at 7 pm and feature the work of Aim4Peace and local civic and law enforcement officials.

Summer food program reduces food insecurity

The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture recently released a major evaluation of a summer food demonstration project for which LINC is one of a handful of selected demonstration sites. The federal demonstration project is exploring ways to address food insecurity among children during the summer months when school lunches are not available.

Community comes out for Melcher school extravaganza

Over 100 attendees participate in free health screenings, safety information, entertainment and food at Melcher Elementary Caring Communities End of Summer Extravaganza July 25.   

Melcher is one of LINC's 24 Caring Communities sites in the Kansas City Public Schools. The new school year starts in mid-August.
