Kansas City eastside will get new grocery store
A "community ground breaking" was held on July 30 for a new ALDI Food Mart which will be located at 39th and Prospect in Kansas City.
The new grocery store has been a long time coming and reflects concerted efforts to promote economic development of the city's east side and address a lack of grocery stores in the area.
The ground breaking occurred amidst cloudy skies and a light drizzle but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of those present including Kansas City Mayor Sly James and City Councilmembers Jermaine Reed and Melba Curls.
The grocery store is expected to open in December.
