LINC wraps up six-week basketball league

LINC wrapped up a six-week Saturday elementary basketball program with a March 1 tournament.

Over 250 parents attended the tournament held at King Elementary.

Eight LINC-sponsored teams participated in the basketball league which had two divisions - gold and silver.

Center Elementary won the Gold Division. Garcia Elementary won the Silver Division.

Approximately 100 students participated in the basketball league representing schools from both the Kansas City Public Schools and Center School District.

Other elementary schools participating in the LINC basketball league were:  Attucks, Banneker, Foreign Language Academy, James, King and Wheatley.
 
To participate, students had to meet citizenship, attendance and homework completion expectations set by school teachers and principals.
 
Players practiced during the LINC afters-school program at each school.

Games were held on Saturdays at King Elementary.

Parents attended the games and volunteered as scorekeepers.
