KCPT addresses student mobility

This year, legislators in both Missouri and Kansas will spend a lot of time dealing with education. Funding, transfer policies and classroom curriculum are all on the agenda, but there is another serious issue that's been flying under the radar for quite a while which educators say is no less important. As KCPT's special correspondent Sam Zeff discovered, thousands of students in the metro are changing schools up to a half-dozen times a year and that is causing all of public education to suffer.

LINC supports the concept of “community schools”. Schools are centers of each community and can meet a wide range of needs of students and families. This can include helping parents staying in their homes, assistance in finding employment, and providing affordable out-of-school.
