Hickman Mills 2019 Family Summit - Video

The Hickman Mills C-1 School District presented the second annual Family Summit on Saturday, March 30. The event featured many free resources for families and the community including: Job Fair, Health Fair, Dental Clinic, Free Child Care, Resource Tables (Emergency Assistance, Youth Services, Utility and Rental Assistance), free child care and activities for kids was provided by LINC. The event provided free food, prizes, games and much more.

LINC Partner School Districts Hold Back to School Events

LINC’s partnering school districts are getting students, faculty and the community geared up to go back to school.

At Kansas City Public Schools’ Summerfest over 5,000 families came to pick up school supplies, get immunized, and get ready for school.

Many school districts held convocations for school personnel. The day-long activities typically include presentations and professional development opportunities.

LINC was recognized at the Hickman Mills School District’s convocation with the Community Partner of the Year award. The event included a personal video from Hickman Mills School Supt. Yolanda Cargile encouraging students to follow their dreams.

Prompt action saves child's life at LINC after school program

“I instantly ran down to the gym to assess the situation and that’s when we realized this was something serious,” said Wesley Cunningham, the school’s LINC site coordinator.  Prompt action and a well-trained staff are being credited with saving the life of a young student at Truman Elementary in the Hickman Mills School District.

Organizations gather to address youth homelessness

The first conference in the Heartland dedicated to the serious and growing issue of youth homelessness was held in Kansas City on September 12. The circumstances that result in a youth becoming homeless are unique and varied, but trends are identifiable and best practices exist. The agenda provided information about data trends, tools, and strategies that are proven to work to end homelessness among youth.

Hickman Mills honors Dr. Carpenter's service

The Hickman Mills C-1 School District is honoring its outgoing Superintendent Dr. Dennis L. Carpenter. A farewell reception will be held on Thursday, May 25 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Concord Cultural Center, 11050 W Longview Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64134.
