Library plans symposium on music and early learning and literacy

Mid-Continent Public Library will hold its first annual early literacy symposium on Sat., May 6th, focusing on the role music can play in early learning and literacy.

The free event will be held at the North Independence branch (317 W. 24 Highway, Independence, MO.) from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Download flyer.

The symposium is intended for parents, teachers, civic leaders, and others with a stake in children’s futures, and features early literacy experts and practical approaches to early learning. This is a free event and attendees will can up to 3 training clock hours.

The symposium will explore the developmental benefits of including simple songs and movements in your everyday world.

There will be an opportunity to learn simple songs, fingerplays, chants and movement activities for everyday use in the classroom. Learn how to pair picture books with musical activities to enrich the classroom learning experiences for children.
