Independence neighborhood celebrates with spring block party

The Santa Fe Trail Elementary School Site Council organized a block party for families and individuals who lived within a few block area north of the Independence, Mo. school.

Over 120 community members participated, with nearly 25 volunteers from the site council, neighborhood and area churches helping to setup and clean up the event.

All enjoyed food and drinks provided by LINC Caring Communities, cotton candy and popcorn provided by New Covenant Ministries.  Children's games provided by Safe Harbor Baptist church and the Independence Parks and Rec.  Tables and chairs provided by Living Hope Restoration Branch.

Crafts and activities were organized by various community volunteers along with prizes and coupon giveaways.  The Independence Fire Department brought their latter truck by for over an hour.  The City of Independence provided barriers and a block party kit.
