Lights On Afterschool celebrations begins in Grandview School District at Martin City K-8
Over 30 area schools and six area school districts are celebrating after school programs and their school communities this week during Lights On Afterschool.
As a national initiative through the Afterschool Alliance, Lights On Afterschool is officially held Thursday, October 22. Area schools are hosting celebrations with their LINC Caring Communities Before & After School program to bring together families and communities with family fun nights, fall festivals, science nights, literacy activities, and more.
Martin City K-8 LINC Caring Communities held the first Lights On Afterschool program of the year with the annual Pizza and Pumpkins event Thursday, October 15. Over 200 people attended the after school party at the school to enjoy creating pumpkins to take home, eating pizza, and learning more about the activities children participate in after school.
Students and families participated in S.T.E.M projects, dance, skits, and much more. Learning more about the Martin City K-8 after school programs including Homework Assistance, chess, 4-H, Good News Club, Back snacks, Basketball, Boy Scouts, Kids Café, Cheer/Dance, Leaders of America: Junior Ambassadors, D.E.A.R (Drop everything and read), and Utility Assistance.
