Fort Family Fun Day to provide free carnival, resources
An upcoming festival in Fort Osage will prepare families for the new school year while celebrating the community with free family fun.
Fort Family Fun Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fort Osage High School for families with children enrolled in the Fort Osage School District. Resources from Parents as Teachers, Fort Discovery, and PTA will be available, as will school transportation and free/reduced meal applications.
Free hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy will be available to families. Carnival games, inflatables, bouncy houses, face painters, dunk tank, and craft tables are some activities for families during Fort Family Fun Day.
Children needing immunizations for the school year will be able to receive them from Jackson County Health Department and Independence Health Department representatives. Health screenings will also be available.
Families looking to learn more about safety options in the neighborhood will have an opportunity to speak with members of Fort Osage Fire Department, Independence Police/Sheriff Department, Independence Fire Department, Life Flight, Bikers Against Child Abuse, and witness instructional demonstrations from the roll-over car.
