Youth volunteer with LINC during food distribution to over 300 area families

Youth and LINC site staff in Independence worked to provide over 300 families with 15,000 pounds of food during Thursday, June 19 during a volunteer opportunity with Christ United Methodist Church.

Nine students along with site staff from William Chrisman High School and Bingham Middle School, Independence Academy and Pioneer Ridge, and Sycamore and William Southern, volunteered with LINC to provide families with food and earn community service hours.

Located at 39th Street in Independence, Christ United Methodist Church provides food to families throughout the KCMO area through a partnership with Harvesters.

According to Christ United Methodist Church staff, volunteers are a big asset in support of the food distribution.

"It was a good opportunity, fun to help out, fun to see the looks on people’s faces,”said Furlow. Everybody was warm and had a heart to help.”
