Barber and Beauty Day continues to provide children with free haircuts

230 Pre-K-6th grade students received a free professional haircut or style during the 5th Annual Barber and Beauty Day at Attucks Elementary gym in the Kansas City Public Schools on December 16.

10 folding chairs in addition to 20 barber chairs filled with students throughout the day as local barbers and stylists gave each child the hair cut or style of their choice. Face painting and manicures were also available for students for the first time this year.

Barber and Beauty Day in the LINC Attucks Caring Communities is an opportunity for children to receive free haircuts in preparation of the holidays. KCMO area shops volunteer their day to cut and style student's hair.

IBEW supplied the electrical resources to the barbers for no additional cost to the school.

"It's so fun, and it's good to give be able to give back to the community," said Tye Miller, Into Hair Naturally. "Kids love getting their hair done too, and it's great to see the look on the parent's faces."

This was Miller's first year participating in Barber and Beauty Day with Into Hair Naturally, which has volunteered previously.

Professionals from Art of Beauty Salon, Biggs Barbershop, Brooklyn Kutz, Clara's Place Hair Care, Diamond Cuts, The Fade Factory, Hair and Beyond, M John's Barber Shop, Mac Salon and Spa,  Natural Beauty, Northern Barber and Beauty, and Touch of Style Salon and Barber were available to students.
