LINC Chess camp primes young minds for lifelong learning

A full camp of advanced and beginning chess players finished the week with tournaments and awards Friday, culminating five days of priming young minds to build strategic skills — that, and just loving the game itself.

“I believe all had a wonderful time learning how each piece moves, captures and protects in conjunction with each other,” said LINC Chess Director Ken Linglebach.

The camp, held at LINC’s Morning Star Caring Communities at the Morning Star Youth and Family Life Center at 27th and Prospect Ave., put 40 youths through the program that promotes chess as a lifelong skillset in problem solving, creative thinking and good sportsmanship.
