LINC families, community love free movie night with Starlight
Free movie night at Starlight Theatre Saturday drew thousands from all over Kansas City, and LINC made sure its LINC kids were heard.
“If you are in a LINC program,” LINC President and CEO Janet Miles-Bartee called out from the stage, “I want you to scream as loud as you can!”
And suddenly thousands sounded like tens of thousands.
LINC and Community Builders of Kansas City joined with Starlight Theatre to make the movie event possible, showing the Disney/Pixar film “Coco” on the big screen in the outdoor amphitheater on a beautiful late summer night.
Several community partners joined in providing information, resources and entertainment for the crowds, including Mariachi Flor de Missouri, the Ethnic Enrichment Commission, Kansas City Greek Picnic, Kansas City Parks and Recreation, Lakeside Nature Center, Southeast Community Center and StoneLion Puppet Theatre.
Starlight President and CEO Lindsey Rood-Clifford thanked all the partners for joining Starlight in its mission as a non-profit “to connect the community through live arts experiences” and, through events like the free movie night with Coco, “be the home for accessible live arts experiences for all generations.”
Miles-Bartee thanked Starlight and Community Builders of Kansas City, and then she thanked all the parents and guardians for bringing their children out for the fun.
“This is such an exciting time,” she said, “for our children and families.
