'Double Up Food Bucks' helps families get more with SNAP EBT cards

Grocery stores and farmers markets throughout the Kansas City area are providing many families the opportunity to get twice the amount of fruits and vegetables for every dollar they spend.

The Fair Food Network and its partners allows families in SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to get $1 free for every $1 dollar spent on fruits and vegetables up to $25.

Several Sun Fresh Markets and Price Chopper grocery stores are participating, as well as farmers markets and farm stands such as City Market and Brookside Market in Kansas City and the Independence Uptown Market.
