Covid vaccinations for children 5 to 11 now available. Here's how to get them.

With holidays coming and the promise of family gatherings and parties, Covid-19 vaccinations are now approved to help protect children ages 5 to 11 and their families from getting and spreading the virus.

Vaccine clinics with most of the area health agencies, hospitals and pharmacies are scheduling vaccinations for children. Families can also contact their pediatrician offices.

The Kansas City Health Department, the Jackson County Health Department, University Health, Swope Health, Children’s Mercy Hospitals, the Kansas City Public Library and pharmacies at CVS, Walgreens and Walmart are some of the major vaccine providers in the area that have added the vaccine for children.

The CDC issued its recommendation at the start of November that children ages 5 to 11 should receive the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine.

One week into the vaccination campaign for children, the White House reported that nearly 1 million had received their first dose, according to the Associated Press.
