Even in more ordinary times, child support is essential to the well-being of thousands of families across Missouri. These are not ordinary times.

The annual Child Support Awareness Month is here and its call for help is more urgent than ever.

A silent auction, under way through Aug. 31, is raising funds to help Missouri families that rely on child support. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Missouri Family and Community Trust (FACT) which is supporting families that have been hurt by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Missouri’s Family Support Division of the Department of Social Services is teaming up with FACT in the auction fundraiser to “recognize the critical role child support plays in the lives of children and the value of both parents contributing to their child's future.”

The Child Support program provides the resources necessary for children to thrive, the event organizers say, “and August is the time to celebrate that.”

FACT has developed the COVID-19 Relief Fund, in which partnering agencies of Missouri FACT can obtain funds to assist Missouri families in need.

The silent auction is the product of “unwavering generosity from so many organizations across Missouri.,” the organizers say. “Separated by regions in Missouri, these donations are a testament to the people of Missouri ‘Standing Strong Together.’”
