Look here: Free tax filing, get your refund, get your stimulus check

If you have not yet filed your 2019 federal income tax return — or gotten your economic stimulus check from the government, here are some important facts.

  1. You’ve got time. The deadline for filing has been extended to July 15., 2020.

  2. If your income was $69,000 or less, you may be one of millions of Americans who can file your tax return for free.

  3. And most people who have not filed their 2019 return yet need to do so in order to receive the government stimulus check that is delivering up to $1,200 to most Americans, $2,400 to couples, with $500 in child credits.

These online services can help.

  • Try out the free-filing service — with IRS-certified assistants ready to give you help — at GetYourRefund.org. This is a program put together by Code for America.

The IRS has set up several portals to help people who have not yet received their stimulus check to explore what is holding it up.
