Missouri's Child Advocacy Day 2020 is on! (virtually, that is)
Child Advocacy Day, Wednesday, is an annual event where advocates meet in Jefferson City to fight for legislative action on policies that support and uplift Missouri children and families.
This week, the 2020 version of this the statewide gathering will meet online, promising “to show Missourians that even though times are uncertain now, we can still come #Together4MOKids.”
Traditionally, Child Advocacy Day has been a day for meeting with legislators, attending workshops, rallying at the Capitol with hundreds of advocates, visiting exhibits, networking and “Recognizing Champions for Children.”
COVID-19, which will dominate many of the conversations around equity for Missouri children, is compelling the work to happen in a virtual community. The official kickoff is Wednesday, but workshops will happen online all week long. Sign up here.
Child Advocacy’s mission is driven by specific principles.
We believe all Missouri children deserve to:
Feel safe and secure in their homes and in our communities
Have access to quality early care and education
Have access health and mental services
Receive a quality K-12 education that prepares them for college and career
Have the support they need to become healthy and successful adults.
