Hickman Mills Superintendent Yaw Obeng is donating $10,000 of his personal funds for his “Above and Beyond” initiative to “motivate and inspire” students.

To support the Above and Beyond initiative:

The fund will support Hickman Mills scholars who “demonstrate a commitment to their educational development in a variety of aspects in school and the community,” the district announced.

Obeng will highlight students who are “reaching for the stars” through academic achievement, contributing to their school or community through service, showing leadership, or modeling good character and citizenship.

Students who receive the Above and Beyond award will also receive prizes and monetary gifts.

Individuals or organizations that wish to contribute in honoring scholars can also contribute to the Hickman Mills Educational Foundation or contact the superintendent’s office by phone at 816-316-7001 or by email at donnape@hickmanmills.org.
