Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week each April reminds grateful communities to recognize the workers who shepherd children and their families through programs and services that enrich lives and strengthen neighborhoods.

LINC’s afterschool program professionals in Caring Communities serve more than 7,500 children in 45 sites across seven school districts in the Kansas City area.

The National AfterSchool Association estimates some 10.2 million children nationwide participate in afterschool programs. No longer seen as simply childcare, these programs are led by professionals who build on classroom education, inspire creativity, aid families and tend to the whole child’s health and wellness.

Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 22 - 26, is a joint effort by community partners, afterschool programs, youth and child care workers, and individuals who have committed to dedicating time to recognize and appreciate those who work with youth during out-of-school hours.
