KC and Independence plan crime prevention events Oct. 4

Two communities — Kansas City, Mo. and Independence — are planning special evening events on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in conjunction with National Night Out Against Crime.

The Kansas City United Against Crime event will be from 4-7 pm at the Swope Park Pavilion, 63rd and Swope Parkway in Kansas City, Mo.

Members of the Kansas City police and fire departments will be present.

Pet rabies, license and a microchip will be available for $10. A $20 package includes additional vaccinations. Dogs must be on a leash, cats in a secure carrier.

Sponsors of the event include LINC and the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department.
