Health fair to provide community with free immunizations, physicals

 

Families preparing students for the 2014-2015 school year are invited to attend the free Back-to-School Health Fair Saturday, August 9 at the Health Department offices at 2400 Troost Ave. 

Sponsored by The City of Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department and HealthCare USA, Back-to-School Health Fair will offer free immunizations, sports physicals, and screenings along with additional services. The fair is available to people of all ages and will offer the following services: 

  • Dental assessments and some on-site dental services
  • Immunizations, including all recommended childhood vaccines and limited adult vaccines, such as TDaP, Meningococcal and HPV
  • Sports physicals
  • Well child checks
  • STD testing
  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Breast exams

Appointments must be made for all sports physicals and well child checks. All other services will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. To schedule an appointment for sport physicals or well child checks, call 816-513-6108.

"We know how needed and wanted these services are to the public and want to provide the best service possible. That is why we are asking people to schedule their sports physicals and well child checks ahead of time," said Jelene Wynn, RN, public health nurse supervisor.
