Garcia students send thanks for First Book
Garcia Elementary students created thank you notes in response to the First Book event on May 21.
The event was to promote summer reading by giving every elementary student in the Kansas City Public School district an age appropriate personal book.
Over 10,000 books were provided by a partnership that include American Federation of Teachers, Kansas City Public Library, Turn the Page Kansas City, LINC and First Book.
Children's author Erica Perl presented her books: "Dotty", "When LIfe Gives You O.J." and "Chicken Butt!".

First Book is a non-profit organization that provides resources to school programs in the United States and Canada. Currently First Book has given over a hundred million books to children.
