LINC begins summer chess
LINC continues to expand its community chess program taking advantage of the summer months to do new things and offer three chess-related activities during June and July.
First, is the LINC Chess University which teaches LINC staff, volunteers, and chess parents how to play and teach chess during two-week sessions.
The first session is being held at the Plaza Public Library (June 3-14) and the second at Fairmount Community Center in Independence (June 17-28). Register for a session online!
Second, LINC has organized chess activities in various branches of the Kansas City Public Library on Tuesdays from (4-6 pm) between June 11 to July 30. It also is organizing chess basic classes at the South Independence and the Blue Ridge branches of the Mid-Continent Public Library. Sessions are several Tuesdays starting at 7 pm. Learn more.
Third, LINC is holding two week-long chess camps - one at Warford Elementary in the Hickman Mills School District (June 17-21) and the second at Chouteau Elementary in the North Kansas School District (July 8-12). Register your student online!
LINC continues working to expand the number of elementary, middle and high school students playing chess and looks forward to an exciting year.
