LINC loves chess: Check out results from girls tourney. Sign up for the boys and girls tourney May 13

Area girls smile in a winners’ montage from the 2015 LINC girls chess tournament. Preregistration is open for the April 1 tournament online at kclinc.org/chess.

Update: Registration is open for the boys and girls area-wide tournament May 13 at Smith-Hale Middle School. Sign up at kclinc.org/chess. Learn more at Facebook/LINCChess.

The idea that chess is dominated by men is being left to history. LINC’s chess program — as LINC Executive Vice President Janet Miles-Bartee declared at the last girls tourney before the pandemic — is full of “girl power.”

The next area all-girls tourney is right around the corner, April 1, at Blue Hills Elementary School in the Fort Osage School District. Update: see the tournament results at kclinc.org/chess.

The tournament is open to the entire KC metro for girls from kindergarten through high school. Players can sign up to play in K-2, K-5, K-8 or K-12 divisions.

And then, still to come, is the spring for tournament for everyone, girls and boys, May 13, at Smith-Hale Middle School in Hickman Mills.
