Area festival LitUp celebrates young authors and artists

The 2018 LitUp Festival will be held on May 12th at the North Independence Branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library in Independence, Missouri. It will be an all-day event that features nationally known authors and illustrators and includes panel discussions, writing and illustrating clinics, a writing contest, a poetry slam, music and food trucks!

Organizations gather to address youth homelessness

The first conference in the Heartland dedicated to the serious and growing issue of youth homelessness was held in Kansas City on September 12. The circumstances that result in a youth becoming homeless are unique and varied, but trends are identifiable and best practices exist. The agenda provided information about data trends, tools, and strategies that are proven to work to end homelessness among youth.

Two school districts select new superintendents

The North Kansas City and Grandview school districts - two LINC partner school districts - have selected new school superintendents who will start this summer.

Dr. Dan Clemens is the new North Kansas School District superintendent and Kenny Rodrequez is the new Grandview school superintendent. Both were internal candidates.
