The 2018 LitUp Festival will be held on May 12th at the North Independence Branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library in Independence, Missouri. It will be an all-day event that features nationally known authors and illustrators and includes panel discussions, writing and illustrating clinics, a writing contest, a poetry slam, music and food trucks!

The circumstances that result in a youth becoming homeless are unique and varied, but trends are identifiable and best practices exist. The City of Kansas City has appointed 250,000 dollars to create sidewalks around Maplewood Elementary on 52nd Street and Freemont Ave. in the North Kansas City School District. Sidewalks would allow a safer route to and from school for students.
