United Way kicks off tax season with community event

Community groups are planning to kick off the 2016 tax season with a community event on Saturday, Jan. 30, 10 am to 4 pm, at Union Station.

Those attending will have an opportunity to have their taxes completed for free (incomes of $53,000 or below).

The event is sponsored by United Way of Greater Kansas City and Next Step KC.

Missouri Tax Amnesty Program begins now through November 30

Businesses and individuals with delinquent taxes before Dec. 31, 2014 are eligible to pay now through November 31 without interest or penalties with the Missouri Tax Amensty Program.

Free tax preparation available for area families

Next Step KC, a community-based non-profit organization, is available for moderate to low income KC residents to prepare for the upcoming tax season.
