The  Belvidere Caring Communities held a summer Free Health Service Event on  Saturday, June 22nd at the Belvidere Heights Baptist Church.  

The Belvidere Caring Communities is a partnership between Belvidere  Elementary School, LINC, Belvidere Heights Baptist   Church, and the Belvidere  Community.  The event provided medical services through the Medina Clinic  and the Lions’ Club. 

The Medina Clinic provided health screenings and  on-site treatments for ear infections, arthritis pain, and other minor  infections.  The Lion’s Club provided vision screenings and eye  exams.  The Grandview Fire Department provided information on fire and  home safety. 

Parents and children were able to walk through a fire truck  and ambulance and visit with emergency personnel about their services.   Grandview Police Department provided information about the DARE program at  schools and safety information for homes and neighborhoods.  Grandview  Commerce Bank provided financial information to parents for starting savings  accounts for their children and information for college savings.  The University of Missouri Extension provided nutrition  information through the Family Nutrition Education Program.  The classes  provided cooking information, recipes, and handouts on healthy eating. 

Belvidere parent, Mrs. LaKisa Scates provided Child ID Safety information  for parents.  Children enjoyed activities such as:  Fingernail Art,  Face Painting, an obstacle course, chalk drawing, Hoop Shoots in a huge blow up  basketball goal, and floating ducks for prizes.  DJ Steven provided tunes  throughout the event that got people up dancing and hula hooping. 

The next Free Health Service Event will be at Belvidere Elementary School  on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.  More information will be provided soon.
