This spring, Missouri will resume verifying the eligibility of people who are receiving Medicaid, and the state wants to make sure everyone who is eligible gets renewed.

First step: Make sure your contact information is up to date with the Missouri Family Support Division.

It has been three years since states made eligibility checks because states were barred from removing anyone from Medicaid during the Covid-19 pandemic.

But the federal government is now calling on states to resume verification beginning April 1. The state over the next year will be sending out letters and Medicaid recipients will have to reply in order to keep getting the benefits through Missouri’s Medicaid — MO HealthNet.

If your address has changed in the last 3 years, you will need to notify the Family Support Division by:

Medicaid households need their information to be up to date to receive the official letter that will come from the state, said acting Department of Social Services Director Robert Knodell in a press release.

“We cannot stress enough how imperative it is to make sure your address is up to date before April 1,” he said.

Second Step: Watch for the letter from the Missouri Family Support Division

Medicaid recipients will receive a letter in the mail sometime between April 2023 and April 2024.

You can check the annual renewal timeline to find out when you should expect to get your letter and the deadline for a response. This letter will tell you what, if anything, you need to do next. If a response is required, recipients will need to send an answer ahead of the deadline or risk losing healthcare coverage.
