Now in its second year, the exploreMOhealth website is proving to be a powerful tool in examining Missouri’s strengths and weakness, and the wide disparities in health indicators county-to-county and ZIP code-to-ZIP code.

“Where we live has a huge impact on our health,” reads the site’s introduction. “By examining targeted health data specific to a particular county or ZIP Code, we are able to identify issues and take action to help create and sustain a healthier Missouri.”

exploreMOhealth was created in partnership between Missouri Foundation for Health and the MHA Health Institute, the not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the Missouri Hospital Association.

They have combined their resources to create one of the most unique health-related datasets in the country. Data is the key to diagnosing and addressing some of our region’s most pressing health issues, and by making this information available to the public, both organizations are furthering their missions to improve health and the health care system.

Missouri ZIP Code health rankings data were updated April 1 to reflect the most recent information on the health and social well-being of populations living in 940 Missouri ZIP codes.

In addition to updating the timeframe, several new measures were added to the dataset, including hospital utilization for opioid misuse, dental caries and 13 prevention quality indicators on preventable inpatient admissions.
