KCPS Summerfest 2016 helps families get ready for school

Kansas City Public Schools hosted Summerfest 2016, an event to give families a day of fun while also taking care of back-to-school business. The event was held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., at 2901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Mo.

Open to school children and families of all ages, Summerfest 2016 featured free food, athletic competitions, fun and educational games, backpack and school supplies giveaways, live entertainment, free physicals and student immunizations. The festival included a wide variety resources and activities, as well as celebrity guests.  

Students and families also had the opportunity to meet new school superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell.
