Independence community takes a night out against crime

Independence Night Out Against Crime community celebration will be held Tuesday, October 7 at McCoy Park. The Independence community has been participating in crime prevention activities throughout September with fun family events at schools and neighborhood community projects. Crime prevention activities are planned through the month of October.

Wayne City Landing Days commemorates Sugar Creek riverboat landing

The City of Sugar Creek invites the community to take a step back in time August 7-9 with Wayne City Landing Days in Sugar Creek, Mo. This free family festival commemorates the first steamboat landing west of the Mississippi River with live entertainment, food and craft vendors, historical re-enactments, contest, carnival rides, and more.

Summer programs start

Extensive summer school programs started June 4 in several LINC-supported school districts. In the Kansas City Public Schools, LINC was one of several partners opening a summer school program with a strong focus on instruction in core academic areas. Over 7,000 students are enrolled in KCPS summer programs.
