Independence Heritage Festival to feature food, entertainment, skateboarding

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to Hill Park, 23rd and Maywood Ave., this Saturday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., for the 2016 Independence Heritage Festival.

This year's event features a skateboard competition as well as entertainment, food and vendors.

Over two hundred students participated in a total of five competitive rounds of chess play today, Saturday December 5 at Fire Prairie Upper Elementary in Fort Osage School District. The next tournament will be March 5 at Bingham Middle School in the Independence School District.

300 LINC students participate in Girls on the Run 5K

Over 300 girls from 18 LINC Caring Communities Sites participated in the Girls on the Run 5k race on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Arrowhead Stadium. The youth were cheered on by parents and LINC staff during the race.
