Thirty-eight area schools across the Kansas City, Missouri area host educational, fun-filled celebrations for their school community during Lights On Afterschool. 

Lights On Afterschool, an initiative through the Afterschool Alliance, celebrates after school programming and the impact school programs have on student's lives and the surrounding community. 

Schools in Center School District, Fort Osage School District, Grandview School District, Hickman Mills School District, Kansas City Public Schools, and North Kansas City School District were active keeping their lights on this year. Fire fighters, community leaders, and more connecting with parents, students, and teachers came together in their school for talent shows, family fun nights, and community festivals.
