Lights On Afterschool celebrates the power of community schools

Every October LINC Caring Communities sites join the nationwide celebration of Lights On Afterschool.

Students, parents and neighbors come together at LINC sites with community partners in festive events.

Together we recognize the importance of safe, educational, supportive out-of-school time programs in our communities.

After-school programs help children grow socially and academically, and parents at work or home know their kids are safe.

The celebrations recognize that community schools provide important support and resources to families.

LINC’s 45 after-school program sites work with dozens of partners to provide rich and engaging experiences for kids and families.

LINC’s after-school lights are on in the Kansas City, Hickman Mills, Grandview, Center, and North Kansas City school districts and Lee A. Tolbert Academy charter school.

Nationwide, the Afterschool Alliance reports, more than 1 million Americans celebrated Lights On Afterschool at more than 8,000 events this October.
