KCPS to host Summerfest back to school event, Aug. 6

Kansas City Public Schools will host a free Summerfest Back to School Festival to give families a day of fun while also taking care of back-to-school business.

The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., at 2901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Mo.

Open to school children and families of all ages, Summerfest will feature free food, athletic competitions, fun and educational games, backpack and school supplies giveaways, live entertainment, free physicals and student immunizations. The festival will be open to the entire community and will include a wide variety resources and activities, as well as celebrity guests.  

The event is an opportunity to meet new school superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell.

Families can pre-register to ensure their KCPS student will receive a free backpack.
