Community organizes Day of the Child event

Independence will honor children and the community's rich heritage with an International Day of the Child celebration on Saturday, May 7, 11 am to 4 pm, at Hill Park, 2201 S. Maywood.

Residents representing Independence's rich ethnic background from German to Venezuelan to Samoan will support each other by sharing food and cultural dances during the community celebration.

The community celebration is free and open to the public. Help us get the word out by liking us on Facebook and sharing with friends and family.

Free parking and shuttle service will be available from Korte Elementary School, 2437 S. Hardy.
