Independence students reach global community to give back this holiday season

William Chrisman High School and Bingham Middle School students participated once again this year with the Samaritan's Purse International Relief, Operation Christmas Child. The program serves to support children around the world.

"We sponsored 75 boxes this year," said Bingham LINC Site Coordinator Rudy Summerville. "Students collected the Good Samaritan boxes and filled them with items for children between two and 12 years-old."

The Good Samaritan program is done in partnerships with local churches and organizations who supply the boxes and serve as a drop-off when the boxes are ready to be sent. LINC worked with school staff and students in the Ace Club to complete the boxes.

"It really a continued connection between the middle school and high school students," said Summerville. "When the middle school students come to high school, they remember volunteering with the program."
