Special summer reading program highlights

The Kansas City Star featured a special summer reading program in a Kansas City apartment complex. 

The program, supported by the University of Missouri-Kansas City education department and LINC, is taking place at the Stoneate Meadows apartment complex in east Kansas City.

The students attend Pitcher Elementary in the Kansas City Public Schools.

The special summer program was organized by principal Karol Howard and Kindel Nash, assistant professor of urban teacher education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City who wanted to provide field experience for her students.

The LINC Summer Camp at Stonegate Meadows Housing Complex in Kansas City, Missouri is working with students on literacy. Special guest teacher Kendel Turner Nash from UMKC shows the students the different ways they can learn from and comprehend the books they read.
